“There is a certain enthusiasm in liberty, that makes human nature rise above itself, in acts of bravery and heroism.” – Alexander Hamilton
America is home of the free because of the brave. Many of those who have served so bravely need support upon returning home. According to a study conducted by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, 50 percent of returning Veterans who are in need or mental health treatment will not receive these services.
Light Up To Live is on a mission to help our Veterans and wants to share different ways you can help our Vets, as well:
Volunteer at your local VA Hospital – Your help can definitely be utilized at a Veterans hospital. Whether you are working directly with patients, helping with recreational programs, or providing comfort and companionship, your local VA Hospital would be ecstatic to have a few hours of your time.
Volunteer with The Veterans Assistance Program – There are Veterans in all communities that could use your help, contact the Local Veterans Assistance Program to be connected with Military men and women who need help doing things like yard work, housework, grocery shopping, or running everyday errands!
Volunteer with Hire Heroes USA – Hire Heroes help Veterans adjust back to everyday life by helping with interview skills, resumes, and training so they can find a post-military career. You can volunteer with Hire Heroes virtually from the comfort of your home or office.
The Little Things – The next time you’re out at a restaurant or coffee shop and you see a Veteran, pick up their tab and say thank you for their service. A simple “thank you” means a lot to our Veterans.
In 2019 Volunteer with Light Up To Live – Thursday, September 12-Saturday, September 14th the foundation will hold the annual trifecta of events and we need your support. Join us for our annual clay shoot, golf tournament and gala. More details coming soon.
Our Mission: Light Up To Live is dedicated to strengthening and helping our Veterans. The Light Up To Live Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) public charity based in Addison, TX and founded by Randall and Sherry Reed. As a military family, they are dedicated to raising awareness about the members of our U.S. Armed Forces and Veterans living with the effects of Post-Traumatic Stress, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), tissue injury, pain and depression. The foundation funds polychromatic light therapy systems that have been shown to increase blood flow in the body and reduce associated minor pain for active military and Veterans that we identify could most benefit from its use. Light Up To Live helps connect these military members and their families to other organizations that are in alignment with our mission to provide direct aid and assistance. We want to light a path to better health.
